I do not read to think. I do not read to learn. I do not read to search for truth. I know the truth, and the truth is hardly what I need. I read to dream!

Refuge - Poem

Thunder echoed overhead, like galloping horses,
As the wind caressed me like a lover.
Lightening flashed down around me,
As I stood there on the mountain side,
Surrounded by the dyeing scenes of nature.
I watched the world pass below.
Up here I was lost,
Gone from the world.
Dissapeared.
But somehow it was better,
Different from the frailties of life.
I'd escaped.

I wrote this a few years ago in my English Lit classes. I actually liked how it came out, it was one of those, here's a group of random words make a poem in the style of ______ things.

Artwork

Well I've been a busy bunny these last two days. I've shelled out alot, alot of drawings and paintings. Thought I'd share them.
First though, here's a look at my work station...

Now theses 2 images are me trying out a new style. I actually really like it. Watercolours and ink used here.

This is a piece called 'Puppet' and is pretty self explanatory...
And this is actually a crop from someone elses' work. I fell in love with the detail, and had to recreate just this section of the original.

A String Of Pearls...

I'm getting too into this blogging melarchy...but I get inspired to go through all my old photos, and just think of more great experiences to share.

The following images, are from my stage show 'A String Of Pearls; A Tale Of Sweeney Todd'. Me and fellow production member Kate Downes wrote the script to the whole thing, based on the original penny dreadful tale of the demon barber.

We put the show on for two nights, and it was an amazing spectacle, of which I was amazingly proud of my whole company.

It's Christmas

my room tree

Well it's only a week till christmas, it's snowing here, and it looks like we may just be in for a white christmas!

My mouth is watering at the thought of my two christmas dinners, yyyuuummmm... stunning.

I'm super, duper excited for Matt to open all his stockings and unwrap all his things. Just see all his little surprises finally!!
Christmas was good last year, but this year will hopefully be so so so so much better. I can't wait. Just to finally see everyone open there presents, will be a heart-warming thing.

Prozac Nation

It's taken a long time for this bloody book review, and sadly it still isn't here yet...
But I started to read 'ProzacNation' by Elizabeth Wurtzel, and although I'm only a few pages in, I think this is going to be a fascinating read.

It's the biography of the authors life suffering from depression and her dealing with her mental illnesses. It's a very open, honest, raw re-telling of her life from the ages of 11 onwards. There is also a film in which 'Christini Ricci' stars, I haven't yet watched that either, but soon.

Anyway I will tell more on this at a later point, when I have more to tell.

I don't know whether to do my book review on 'A certain slant of light', 'Inkheart', 'Ophelia', or something else....
Hmm....desicions, decisions....

Experiences

Before I start on my book review blog, I just had to share one of the oddest yet best experiences of my life with you all.
And the picture below pretty much sums it up;

My friend needed a hand with her Art course, so I obviously voluntered to take my top off and be painted all over. She painted me yellow like parchement, and then completley covered me in quotes from Hamlet.
I entertained myself meanwhile;

It was a really fun project and the outcome actually came out really well. She took photos before painting me from the photos.

This is her final piece. I'm super jelous of her talent, and think the outcome is fantastic!!!

Anyway just had to share that...

You - Jade Addis

Tear Down my defenses,
Pull apart my heart.
Muddle up my senses,
Can't ever bear to part.

You're like my drug,
Intoxicating.
Just one standard hug,
Inflating.

But still I pull you closer,
Suffocate myself.
Riding out this coaster,
Damaging my health.

You are my king,
Despite your lack of crown.
Seal it with a ring.
Hold me tighter as I drown.

Me and Matt on a trip through 'PuzzleWood' ~~

A relationship poem in general, but alot of Hamlet referances again cropping up in this one...actually they occured by accident.

One woe doth tread anothers heel,
So fast they follow; your sisters drowned Laertes.
There is a willow grows aslant a brook,
That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream;
There with fantastic garlands did she come
Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples
That liberal shepards give a grosser name,
But our cold maids do dead men's fingers call them:
There, on the pendant boughs her coronet weeds
Clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke;
When down her weedy trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook. Her clothes spread wide;
And, mermaid like, a while they bore her up:
Which time she chanted snatches of old tunes;
As one incapable of her own distress,
Or like a creature native and indued
Unto that element: But long it could not be
Till that her garments, heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

Mr. Depp

This is a watercolour portrait of Johnny Depp, I painted not long ago. I'm actually quite proud of the likeness.

Depp has to be my favourite male actor of all time. Not only is he smulderingly sexy, but he's also insanly talented. His characters although not always versatile in range, are such complete and whole people, that you don't doubt for a second that Depp has truley become his character.

My top 5 Johnny films have to be; (in no order)
- From Hell
- POTC
- Alice In Wonderland
- Ed Wood
-The Libertine

If you've not seen any of the films above, you must see them immediatley. Especially 'From Hell' and 'The Libertine', which are absolutley bloody, brilliant movies. Very moving and powerful.

Exposure - By Jade Addis

Here I stand,
Stripped back,
Stripped down.

Bare,
Exposed,

Open.

No use of powder or paint,
Just standard flesh and bone.
Nothing to hide behind,
Everything to hide from.

I'm here open to attack.
Hunted.
But, here I stand,
In all my glorious imperfections.

Ready for battle.
Ready,

Raw,
Acceptant,
Free!

This is a poem I wrote, that's about the first time you really share your body with someone else. No matter how long ago it happened, you should always remember the surge of emotions, and freedom that comes with binding.

My stockings prove my virtue...

Never doubt I live...

Doubt thou the stars are fire,
Doubt thou the sun doth move,
Doubt truth to be a liar,
But never doubt I love.

- Hamlet, Act 2; Scene 2

Life is a mystery, one no one will ever understand. I wish to live in a simpiler time, than the complex, hectic world of today.

I live for art, photography, writing and passion!
I'm a typical romantic and my life revolves around my fiance, and our relationship. I love my family, and the very few friends I have left in the world.

I live to find a reason for myself to live, everyone needs a reason a drive. I strive to find the beauty in every situation, and put my all into the work I create.
